Unpacking the Past to Embrace a Beautiful Future Filled with Love

While sharing a wonderful dinner and engaging in genuine conversation with an absolutely beautiful, intelligent, and successful client last night, I was struck by the words that came from her mouth. As I finished describing the five amazing men I had just interviewed and was so excited to introduce her to, I expected her to say, “They sound so amazing, I can’t wait to meet them.” Instead, she said, “I have so much baggage, I don’t even know how men like these would want to date me.”

This heartfelt admission came right after I had just finished recording my recent podcast on this very topic: Baggage vs. Your ‘Wonderful, Amazing Luggage’—the experiences and lessons you’ve thoughtfully accumulated on your journey through life and love. Her words were a powerful reminder of how we often view our past trials and experiences as burdens rather than treasures. If you consider your life experiences as ‘baggage,’ I encourage you to look deeper, with love and not shame, at the incredible journey and the teachers that have shown up for you along the way. These experiences have brought you to the place you are today, perfectly preparing you for the beautiful love that awaits.

By unpacking it thoughtfully, you can share the richness of your journey with someone special. Remember, your experiences have shaped you into the wonderful person you are, ready to welcome and nurture a loving relationship.

A Whirlwind Year (thus far): Horses, Hollywood, and Heartstrings

It’s been a wild and blessed ride of a year! From national brand partnerships that have taught me more about authenticity and what’s truly ‘real’, than I could have imagined, to a client’s Montana ranch sprawling across 30,000 acres where I learned to herd cattle on horseback.

But the adventures didn’t stop there. I launched MyLoveDesign.com, a lifelong passion project (an online dating, lifestyle, and wellness platform), teaching people how to prepare for real love, before seeking it. And then there’s the singles ministry for Christians, where we gathered weekly not just to talk about love, but to live it, breathe it, and understand that love without God is like trying to build a house on sand.

Enter stage left: one of Hollywood’s most powerful A-list families invited me into their home in the glitzy heart of Los Angeles, where I not only helped them heal, but taught them about the transformative power of love. Yet, it’s not all glitz and glam; sometimes, it’s about showing them that love is the real magic behind the red carpet. Even in Hollywood, it’s about the heartstrings, not the headlines.

Meanwhile, on the home front, life has been a delightful blur of milestones. My oldest son tied the knot in a wedding that could have been a Hallmark movie, and my youngest graduated college, standing tall and proud, diploma in hand. As a mother, my heart swells with pride, and yes, tears continue to be shed—happy tears, the kind that remind you just how blessed you are.

Amidst all these moments, my mission to introduce and teach singles “who have it all” that real love is the true luxury, continues. These high-fliers, who seemingly have everything, learned that without love, the power, penthouses, and private jets are just empty vessels.

And then, with a heart full of gratitude and a microphone in hand, I relaunched the Love Happy Hour Podcast Show based on strong demand over the last several years. This has allowed me to dive deep into the truths about what stops us from love and, more importantly, how we can break free.

Through it all, I remain passionately on my toes, forever awake to the realities of what blocks us from love. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the cattle drives or the Hollywood stars, but about helping everyone find the love they truly deserve.
